A Day at the Naval Base – Reading Activity

Reading Passage

It is early morning at the naval base. The sun is rising, and the ships are shining in the light. The base is very busy today. The officers are checking the schedules and giving instructions. Some sailors are preparing the ships for departure. They are cleaning the decks and checking the engines.

In the communication room, two technicians are testing the radios. They are speaking to other ships and writing reports. Outside, a group of sailors is loading supplies. They are carrying boxes of food and water.

Near the dock, the captain is talking to the chief engineer. They are discussing the weather and the route for the next mission. Both of them are looking at a map and pointing at different areas.

In the kitchen, the cooks are making breakfast. They are serving coffee, porridge, and some fruits. They are also frying eggs and boiling water. A few sailors are eating quickly because they are leaving soon.

Other sailors are exercising near the gym. They are running and lifting weights to stay strong. Some of them are stretching and talking while they are training.

The medical team is checking the health of the crew. They are asking questions and writing notes. Everyone is working hard because the fleet is leaving in two hours. The atmosphere is full of energy and movement. Life at the naval base is never quiet.
